The Ohio University Psychology and Social Work Clinic is a training clinic is a training clinic providing services and research to Athens residents and the surrounding region. The clinic is able to  offer reduced rates for assessment and evaluation services because of its status as a training site. The clinic therefore does not accept referrals for forensic cases nor for situations where there is legal involvement. In order to keep our fees low, we require that fees be paid at time of service. A sliding fee scale is available for individuals and families when they are responsible for fees.

Clients are informed about fees at the time of the Initial Contact, which is typically by telephone. Ohio University students receive therapy at no cost. Community members are charged $10.00 per session, which must be paid at the time of service. Separate fees are charged for assessment conducted in the Clinic and a sliding fee scale is available for these services (see below).

A psychological or neuropsychological screening evaluation is usually appropriate for referral questions such as dementia screening, giftedness evaluation, school readiness screening and in those cases where only intellectual functioning is assessed. Occasionally, screening can be performed to determine the need for a more comprehensive evaluation.

A comprehensive psychological or neuropsychological evaluation is appropriate for referral questions such as: Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Learning Disability, Autism spectrum disorders, traumatic brain injury, other neurological illness/disorder, psychological disorders that affect cognitive functioning, and other psychological or personality disorders.

Most assessment referral questions will require a comprehensive evaluation. The scope of your assessment will be determined by the nature and degree of your difficulty and the resources required to accurately evaluate your concerns and their possible causes.
