The Y.E.S.S. Program is a school-based program designed to
increase access to evidence-based services for children
and families in Southeast Ohio who struggle with inattention
and disruptive behavior problems.
- Improve academic and behavioral functioning of children
experiencing challenges in school
- Enhance home-school collaboration to improve child well-being
- Make support services more accessible to children and parents
in rural communities
- Work collaboratively with community agencies to provide
more comprehensive services to children and families
- Enhance consultation and support services for teachers
- Conduct research to evaluate program quality and effectiveness
- Comprehensive assessment to identify the childs strengths
and weaknesses
- Classroom-based behavioral programs individualized
to the childs needs
- Individual parent support meetings
- Parenting groups
- Childrens groups and individual counseling (e.g.,
social skills, anger management, self-esteem)
- Teacher in-service training and consultation
Services are provided Services are provided by Y.E.S.S. facilitators.
Facilitators may be supervised graduate student clinicians from
the Departments of Psychology and Social Work at Ohio University,
school guidance counselors, or community mental health professionals.
Y.E.S.S. Program facilitators spend approximately 15 hours/week
on-site at the elementary school.
Elementary school-aged children who are experiencing problems
with inattention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, aggression, or cooperating
with others in a way that interferes with academic progress or
social and emotional well being. Y.E.S.S. Program services are
